We had such a great time yesterday at The Nuts and Bolts of Memoir workshop held at The Brooklyn Historical Society! So much creativity and courage, so many intimate moments and amazing stories. We talked about the fundamentals of memoir and the all-important element of insight for writers who hope to break new ground and discover “the story inside the story” — the untold story that needs to be written. I love the rapport that forms in these groups, the trust that forms between strangers who are opening their hearts, their secrets, their longings, to one another in a few short hours. Thank you to everyone who participated! I hope that our paths will cross again soon.
